sleeping bags - light as a cloud !! |
| Cumulus has
been making high quality specialist outdoor equipment for more than 18 years
with sales mainly in Europe and USA. Cumulus down-insulated sleeping
bags and specialist clothing (jackets and trousers) have been used on many
high altitude mountaineering expeditions in the Himalayas, Andes, Alps,
Pamir and Atlas mountains. Notably, members of the 2002/03 and 2003/04 expeditions
up K2 and Shisha Pangma, in severe winter conditions, made use of Cumulus
equipment (see Cumulus in Action).
The FIRST EVER successful winter ascent of Shisha
Pangma in January 2005 featured Cumulus sleeping bags at the 7800 metre
camp.
The range of Cumulus sleeping bags that is featured on this website has been designed in England specifically for the British market and for those overseas conditions which are most often encountered by British outdoor enthusiasts. With comfort temperatures ranging from +3°C to -40°C they are suitable for use in most countries under many different conditions. We are also willing to cooperate with overseas distributors and introduce special modifications for different markets, if required. Polish goose down insulation is generally acknowledged to be the best down in the World, whilst Pertex fabric, in turn, is generally said to be the best shell material for down-filled products. This combination has enabled us to create a range of sleeping bags which is lightweight and compact, yet very warm and comfortable, the ideal combination for backpacking, trecking and mountaineering. The range has many additional features aimed at enhancing every user's enjoyment. With incredibly low weight-to-warmth ratios and the ability to pack down to a tiny size, we have chosen appropriate names for our models. Until 2010 the Cumulus sleeping bags range consisted of 13 models split into 5 categories: Cumulus Ultralight, Mysterious Traveller, Cumulus Prime, Cumulus Expedition and Cumulus Quantum. These intriguing names are intended to conjure up images of lightweight travel in remote unexplored regions of the universe. From 2010 a new range of three new Cumulus sleeping bags was introduced, specially designed to cater for lady adventurers, which we have called the 'Cumulus Lady' range. And with reference above to lightweight travel in remote unexplored regions, twelve Cumulus Quantum 350 sleeping bags were used during the 2009 expedition along the Skeleton Coast of Namibia, which was led by world famous explorer Jason De Carteret.
